About Me

I am a qualified counsellor, a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have thirteen years experience of providing emotional support - in counselling, hospital and home environments. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrated Humanistic Counselling from a BACP accredited course. As a Member of the BACP, I abide by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am subject to its Professional Conduct Procedure. I am committed to supervised practice and ongoing personal and professional development.  I also enjoy tutoring counselling skills at a local further education centre.

My approach is drawn from Person-centred and Gestalt theories, also integrating Existential and Transactional Analysis perspectives. However, you don’t need to be familiar with these terms in order to benefit. My clients experience me working in a non-judgemental, empathic relationship, emphasising the Here and Now, valuing the client’s own meanings to their life, as well as valuing and using the client’s own expertise and autonomy in our work. In addition to ‘talking therapy’, some clients like to explore using creative methods of expression, such as art, play, dreamwork or role-play. I am happy to work this way, but recognise that this is not always right for everyone.

I work with adults and young people of all ages, and am happy to offer clients therapy on both a short and long term basis.

As counselling is a very personal process, everyone’s journey is individual.

It's my aim to provide you with that unique and personal framework in which we may work together for you to discover and move into your chosen way ahead.
